In a nightmare, Donovan dreams that he and his son, Sean, are attempting to escape from a Visitor mothership but they are shot, and Sean is apparently killed. Roused by Julie, the Resistance prepare for a raid on a Visitor processing plant where they are easily thwarted. Visitor John is about to announce a cure for cancer. The rebels scout the LA medical centre where the announcement is to be made and they are able to secure medical supplies. Friendly Fifth Columnist Visitor, Martin, can supply uniforms but not weapons. When Robin, who has not revealed who has made her pregnant, discovers the Visitors are indeed reptilian she insists on an abortion but potentially fatal complications mean that she is forced to go full term.
TV reporter Kristine Walsh becomes suspicious of the Visitors but later succumbs to Diana's conversion process. The rebels capture friendly Visitor Willie for studying. His human girlfriend, Harmony, asks the rebels to be humane. The successful hospital raid leads to the unmasking of John's true reptilian nature. Diana kills Kristine after she disobeys to report the incident as a terrorist hoax and decides to fake the scene for broadcast. Martin and the other Fifth Columnist aid the rebel escape but Julie is separated and captured.
Visitor Stephen tells John and Diana that the Resistance base has been found and that troops are on the way. On the mothership, Julie is being converted by Diana, who claims she will be her masterpiece.
